Rio Dulce Missions Base

Funds Needed: $100,000
Project Status: 40% completed
Project Info:
10,000 Sq. Ft. 2 story missions base. 4 units total. Will house up to 40 people.
Overview:
The Rio Dulce Missions base will serve as a home base for long-term missionaries, interns and short-term teams, working among the Que’tche people living around the Rio Dulce river tributaries. For the past 15 years, Faith in Action has served these people, but has never had a base in Rio Dulce. The limitations of working without a base, has severely limited our ability to effectively reach out to the many, largely, unreached villages with the love of God. With the completion of the Rio Dulce Missions Base, we will be able to have a much stronger presence in the area, cut the cost on lodging, both for our missionaries, and short-term teams substantially, and be able to apply more resources to the work among the Que’tche people that is so desperately needed.

Zacapa Dorm

Funds Needed: $150,000
Project Status: 60% completed
Project Info: 15,000 Sq. Ft. 3 story dormitory. 6 units total (3 boys, 3 girls). Will house up to 120 students.
Overview: The dormitories in Zacapa serve as an extension of the primary education schools we have built in various villages. Here the students have an opportunity to stay at no cost, while receiving secondary education from one of the colleges or trade schools in Zacapa. The dorm is fully staffed with a house parent, tutor, and cook. These students, are the first generation ever to receive a secondary education, from their respective villages. Each week they are discipled by our staff, attend church and youth group in Zacapa, and are assisted in acclimating culturally into society around them.

Adopt a Student

Funds Needed: $100 each month pr/ student. 7 students are currently awaiting support.
Project Info: In order to gain employment in the cities of Guatemala you need at least a high school education. Our village schools provide up to 6th grade. We have found that there is no lack of interest or ambition for higher education. We have sponsored several distance learning students over the past six years. These sponsorships have been a complete success. 6 students from Matasano and Pinalito have graduated. Four as teachers, onecas an accountant and one police officer. Your $100 monthly donation will cover expenses for food, school uniforms, shoes, school supplies, books, and transportation.

Recently a private trade school has opened in Zacapa that offers certifications in areas of advanced study such as accounting, auto mechanics, carpentry, metal working, air conditioning, hair cutting, bakery and other business.  These trades are the latest and most advanced educational opportunities in our region and God has seen fit to put them on our doorstep!  If our students decide to attain a simple high school diploma they will be able to be gainfully employed in a wide variety of positions ranging from school teachers to bank tellers. As we move forward toward providing access to knowledge, we will see the shackles of poverty, ignorance, and starvation eliminated from the remote areas we minister to.  There has also recently opened up a free university right down the road for those who desire to continue on in their studies to become doctors, engineers or lawyers.  We tell them to dream and we together will believe God to help them achieve their dreams. We ask that you consider adopting a child until their vision is fulfilled.  See the one child thru and become a part of their destiny.  You will receive a letter from the child and a picture.  At anytime that you would like to visit you would be more then welcomed to check up and meet your child.

Pilas

Funds Needed: $250 pr/ pila
Project Info: Pilas are water holding tanks that enable the villagers to hold water to do their wash and also to bathe.  Each pila will provide water to one home.

Homes for Huts

Funds Needed: $2,000 pr/ home
Project Info: Many villagers live in small huts built out of adobe and sticks. These huts provide little protection against the elements and poor ventilation from the open fire pits. Your $2000 donation will provide a family with a new safe home, built out of cement block, with a poured cement floor, and a tin roof.

Roof for Pinalito Missions Base

Funds Needed: $6,000
Project Info: The rusty tin roof on our missions base in Pinalito has served better days and need replacement.

Motorcycle for Pastors

Funds Needed: $3,000 pr/ motorcycle $6,000 total
Project Info: Faith In Action needs to provide motorcycle transportation for a Pastor in Matasano, and a Pastor in Pinalito. Many of the paths and walkways that lead through the mountains are too narrow or steep for a larger vehicle to pass over. It is our hope to raise $3,000 for each motorcycle. These vehicles will facilitate the national pastors in reaching some of the farther villages from the mission with the gospel.

Pastor Support

Funds Needed: $200 each month pr/ pastor. 2 pastors are currently awaiting support.
Project Info: As the fellowship of believers has organically grown through the years, God has raised up leaders and teachers among us! We have a need to support two pastors and their families so that they may dedicate their lives to the encouragement of the saints and building strong bonds of faithfulness within the local body of believers. The cost to support an entire family is only $200.00 per month.

Dental Equipment

Funds Needed: $3,500 pr/ chair. 2 needed.
Project Info: One of the most important ministries that we provide to the villagers is dental care. Tooth decay and poor oral hygiene practices cause tremendous suffering and exaggerate the effects of malnutrition throughout our missions. We want to be able to better care for the people that God has lead us to with the addition of two dentist chairs.

4×4 Vehicle

Funds Needed: $31,000
Project Info: After more than ten years of hard and faithful service, our diesel Suburban, one of the vehicles that we depend on most to help move people and supplies back and forth from the city to the missions, is beginning to die. Faith In Action is in need of a replacement vehicle that is capable of heavy-duty diesel four-wheel-drive transport and extended use under severe conditions. We have located a suitable replacement vehicle – a Nissan Patrol.

House Boat

Funds Needed: $180,000
Project Info: A fifty foot pontoon house boat for use by the mission to serve up the Rio Dulce tributaries. Currently we spend 3-4 hours each day transporting teams back and forth from Rio Dulce to the villages we serve, at a great cost, and loss of time.  This boat will provide a mobile base from which to launch teams of medical and dental professionals, construction and evangelism teams that wish to minister to the remote and isolated villages on the river tributaries.  The boat will allow us to bring teams up the rivers for extended periods of time, and give us access to villages where no missionaries ever have gone before.
